Bishop James V. Johnston, Jr.

All of us are called to respond to the person of Jesus Christ: to accept his mercy and embrace the truth of his teaching; to believe in his victory over sin; to entrust ourselves and our destiny in faith to him; to carry forward the mission to make him known and loved. This is what our new life in the Holy Spirit entails. None of us do this in isolation, but within the people God has made his own, the Church.
Together, let us renew and deepen our desire to be authentic, intentional disciples of Jesus Christ. Let us strive to be “One Church, East to West: Loving Jesus, Serving Jesus, and Sharing Jesus!”
May God bless you and our diocese, One Church, East to West.
Sincerely yours in our Lord,
The Most Reverend James V. Johnston
Bishop, Springfield-Cape Girardeau,* March 31, 2008 – Nov. 4, 2015
