“…By the Eucharistic celebration we already unite ourselves with the heavenly liturgy and anticipate eternal life,

when God will be All in all” (CCC 1326).

A Letter from the Bishop

As we begin the 2024 Bishop’s Appeal, the Diocesan Development Fund campaign, I invite you to participate with a financial donation United in the Sacred Heart. Every donation helps me to share the love of the heart of Jesus through each of the 39-plus ministries of our diocese. Some may think their contribution is too small to make a difference. Remember, every contribution given in love has a great impact: thank you.

When we participate in the DDF, we lean into Our Lord, for our sacrificial gift makes possible the building up of the Kingdom of God in southern Missouri through the many vital ministries of the diocese.

United in the Sacred Heart, I thank you for your vibrant witness to the faith and for your financial support. May the Diocese of Springfield – Cape Girardeau continue its mission of faith, mercy, and good works motivated by the love of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

God bless you and thank you.

The Most Rev. Edward M. Rice

What is the Diocesan Development Fund (DDF)?

The Bishop’s Annual Appeal, our Diocesan Development Fund Campaign (DDF), is the annual campaign for the diocese and takes place the first weekend of May.  The funds raised through the campaign advance our mission through a host of ministries that assist our families, our parishes, and every diocesan ministry in the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau.  The personal sacrifices of parishioners across the diocese directly benefit the lives of those who worship in our churches, those formed through religious education programs in our parishes and schools, and those who are consoled and comforted through our ministries and presence.
