History
For 40 years Catholics in the Williamsville area made the trip to either Piedmont or Poplar Bluff to attend Mass. In 1947 the mission church of Our Lady of Sorrows was built and the community was served by priests from Poplar Bluff. In 1962 Our Lady of Sorrows, along with St. George in Van Buren, became missions of St. Catherine of Siena in Piedmont.
Although a small Catholic community, the parish swells during the summertime when campers and fishermen come to vacation at Markham Springs State Park or Wappapelo Lake.
