History
St. Vincent de Paul mission church in Roby “about 30 to 40 miles from everywhere,” began in 1960 when a small group of 12 to 15 Catholics in North Texas County began meeting in homes for Mass celebrated by the pastor of Willow Springs, Fr. Robert Landewe. Bishop William Baum gave permission to purchase a former Christian church just outside Roby. A Catholic Extension Society grant combined with a low interest loan from the diocese provided the money to renovate the building and make it suitable for Catholic liturgies. It was dedicated in 1974 and is under the care of St. Mark in Houston.
