The 350th anniversary of the first revelation of the Sacred Heart of Jesus to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque is Dec. 27, 2023. During the 350th anniversary, which begins Dec. 27, 2023, and will conclude next year on Dec. 27, 2024, I encourage all Catholics to grow in their devotion and love for the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
The Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau is blessed with 12 parishes named in honor of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Bishop Rice encourages the faithful to make a “pilgrimage” to each of the 12 parishes from Dec. 27, 2023-Dec. 27. 2024. A Passport, as well as a collection of time-honored prayers and resources to inspire and enhance your devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Jesus Christ
LIVES!
And from that belief flows joy, peace, and happiness for believers. The resurrection of Christ gives meaning to our human existence beyond the grave.
The roots of Catholicism run deep here in the 39 counties of southern Missouri, and I am grateful to partner with my brother priests in spreading the beauty of our Catholic Faith in the spirit of the New Evangelization. I rely on the loving Providence of God to assist me as I strive to walk in the way of Christ, the Good Shepherd, who will continue to guide my way if I but seek to do His will.
I ask for the intercession of St. Rose Philippine Duchesne and Pope St. Pius X, patrons of our Diocese, all under the mantle of Our Lady of Mercy. Pray for us!
